I was born and have lived in Mid Wales my whole life. It is here, in this spectacular rural countryside I find my inspiration. The landscape ranges from craggy mountainsides, and isolated small communities, to beautiful valleys abundant in woodland, streams, waterfalls and lakes; together with the wildlife of this area the range of subjects in all seasons is endless. The challenge for me is to create an image, which captures the light, movement and life of the subject so that it may be brought into and enjoyed in the home.

I grew up with pencils and paper always to hand and was encouraged to paint and draw by my parents. However, I pursued a career in Engineering, and have no formal art training. Many years later I gradually renewed my interest in art, starting with watercolours and then pastels. I enjoy pen and ink, and graphite work with a more realistic, detailed approach which is my natural style.

The desire to introduce more colour into my ink work took me through watercolour washes and then to coloured pencils. Through viewing coloured pencil art online I became aware of many very talented artists and the incredible results they achieve in this medium.

I joined the United Kingdom Coloured Pencil Society UKCPS in 2005 and have gained signature status through acceptance of works into their juried open international exhibitions. My work has been exhibited at the RBSA Birmingham and the RWA Bristol.

I am a founder member of the Rhayader Art Group and have regularly exhibited work in the locality.

I was surprised and delighted to win       'First Place - Hafren Award' in the Hafren Themed Art Competition which opened on 26 November 2011.
The theme was R
evelation.

There are a total of 74 pictures in the exhibition which  runs until 27 January 2012.
